General Engineering (GEEN)

Overview of the history of engineering, its disciplines and professional practice with emphasis on social responsibility and ethical behavior. Introduces each engineering discipline using three-week modules. It also provides basic skills, tools and techniques applied to problem solving, teamwork and communication necessary for academic and professional success.

Introduction to AI concepts and modalities for engineering; large language model–based chat systems and prompt engineering; essential tools including Google AI Studio, OpenAI, Anthropic Claude; image and video generation; HuggingFace, GitHub, and open-source resources; Introduction to Python programming; Introduction to data structure and control flow; ethical considerations in fairness, transparency, and privacy; a final project that emphasizes applications relevant to engineering.
